Checking In With My 30 Before 30 List

My 30 Before 30 List needs to be addressed, so I figured out what better time to check in with my progression. I was excited to find that I had been working harder than I initially intended to, so I was pleasantly surprised.

01. Read / Listen to 100 Books In a Year ðŸš§

I have been reading. However, I need to catch up regarding tracking books on GoodReads. I have also picked up five new books that I am excited to read. I am excited for Children of Anguish and Anarchy (Legacy of Orisha, 3). The 1st two books were excellent! They are on my yearly re-read list.

02. Save $5000.00 ðŸš§

Earlier this year, we managed to get our savings up to $900.00; however, we needed to use it, so we are back at square one again. The initial goal is to have $1000 in an emergency fund, pay off debts, and save $5000.00 by the end of the year.

03. Win NaNoWriMo ðŸš§

I lost Camp NaNoWriMo; I have two more chances at it: the next camp and the actual NaNoWriMo event. I will start working on my story binder to better prepare for the next center.

04. Make a pleated skirt with my sewing machine

05. Get a concealed weapon license

06. Learn to Swim

07. Learn to Play the Piano ðŸš§

I bought a piano and a book to teach me how to use them and how to commit time in my weekly schedule to practice. I want to learn to play 3 songs and how to read music while playing.

08. Learn to do the splits

09. Take a Professional Family Photo

10. Take a Family Vacation ðŸš§

I am currently pricing a family vacation to Great Wolf Lodge. I want to spend time there around the MN Fair so that we can have a double break. Right now, I am shooting for five days.

11. Blog Consistently (average two posts a week) / Start a Small Business ðŸš§

My OmanahLand and Sakoiyah blogs are doing okay, and I am averaging about one episode every other week. I plan to post 104 times per blog, with an average of 600 words in each post.

12. Establish an active and healthier lifestyle ðŸš§

I bought a fitness tracker from Amazon. I should have been using it more, though. I have also recreated our family's routines for the summer. However, I'll have to go back over them with the move and schedule changes that we expect to happen.

13. Volunteer for 30 Hours ✔️

This year, I volunteered at my children's faith formation. It lasted about the second half of the school year, and I volunteered 2 hours a week.

14. Improve Finances and Financial Literacy ðŸš§

I have been taking significant steps in this department. I have created a budget for our family that I have been sticking to. I have been watching our spending and focusing on saving for the future. I also invested in the Headway App, which I visit daily to help me improve my financial literacy, personal growth, and development.

15. Declutter the House (Marie Kondo) and Redecorate (Montessori) ðŸš§

We are moving! We will move into a 3-bedroom apartment, and I want to redo our family's aesthetic. So, I will have to declutter. I have been doing some of that now, tossing things here and there, but I have been finding it hard to let things go; I am still working on that.

16. Read the Entire Bible (Again - Bible in a Year) ðŸš§

I have been doing the Bible in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Smitz. It's been a fantastic journey so far. I am also working on the Catechism for a year. It's been eye-opening since I taught my daughter's catechist class during faith formation.

17. Complete a Shadow Work Journal

18. Plan Career Goals for the next 1,3,5, 7, and 10 Years ðŸš§

I created a Vision Board for 2023. Now I am processing where I see my life headed in the next few years.

19. Have a Spa Day/ get a Massage

20. Have 12 Family Movie Theater Visits and 3 Mother Daughter Dates

21. Go on a Spiritual Journey

22. Level Up my life and become more Mature

23. Design a Dream Home

24. Learn to do 10 natural hairstyles and how to take care of the family's natural hair)

25. Attend a convention

26. Regularly document our life's memories and our family experiences ðŸš§

I want to pick up scrapbooking. That would allow the family to come together and preserve our memories. I am also saving up to get photo frames that can be regularly updated and sent to family members so that I can edit them and share the content from afar.

27. Find my Ikigai

I have been working hard on this one. I have been on a journey to determine my ikigai and my place in the world. I have a good chunk of it figured out. However, I still need to be 100% set.

28. Become more mindful and present ðŸš§

I have been working on ways to live in the moment more. My schedule has become filled with many things, so trying to fit in moments of mindfulness can be challenging, to say the least.

29. Improve my parenting skills ðŸš§

We run a Montessori home, and because of this, our children's life exploration is child-led. I also pair this with the teachings of Dr. Leman. His content is older, but the advice is excellent, and many of his techniques work for us. One of my many parenting goals is to get my home's volume down. We are a family of yellers, and the baby has a signature screech. I really want to curb these bad habits for us all.

30. Go on a Journey as a creative Entrepreneur (Sakoiyah) ðŸš§

My Sakoiyah blog is a big part of my creative life. Growing up, I wanted to be the next Walt Disney. I still hold fast to these goals.
