My Journey with CourseCareers, How It's Going

About two weeks ago, I purchased CourseCareers. I wanted to get a side hustle in sales. However, it has been a few years since I've been on the sales floor, so I wanted a refresher course.

Going into it, I was looking for a quick refresher course. What I got was so much more. Not only did the course reacquaint me with sales, but it also gave me tips, tricks, employable advice, and strategies I wish someone had told me when I was actively on the sales floor.

In my lifetime, I have amassed 5 years' worth of active sales and about 10 years of customer service experience. Going through the course, I am blown away by the valuable information in each module.

I am about 40% through the course, and though there are many topics I could discuss, I wanted some time to talk about two ideas the course instructor Trent covers in the course's second module: How to Measure Success and How to Win the Day.

How to Measure Success

"The beautiful thing about sales is that the results are binary."
- Trent from CourseCareers.

In sales, you either hit your quota or you don't. This is a concept that I am very familiar with, and the good thing about it is that this idea can be applied to realms outside of sales, such as personal finances and business - either you reach your goals or you don't.

Since sales is a knowledge and performance-based career, it is pivotal that representatives know their numbers and have a set flow to reach. CourseCareers lays out everything you will need to know and then some to understand what your job is, how to do it, and how to excel at it. CourseCareeres provides workflows, intuitive concepts with real-world examples, and actionable recourses to ensure their student's success.

One of my key takeaways from this section was the Sucess Metrics Portion of the Course. Trent talks about "the game within the game" and how the more work you put in, the more results you receive; the more outreach your do, the more prospects you reach, and the more sales are closed. All you have to do is put in the effort.

How to Win The Day

Working in sales, I knew what to do to hit my numbers. However, I needed a workflow. I would come in, have a list of to-dos and then check them off as the day progressed. My primary duty was to provide as much value to the customer so that they could make the most informed purchase to meet their needs, and I was great at it. Regularly I was the top salesperson in my store. However, I quickly learned I left so much potential on the table that it should be a crime.

Success Habits section, Trent shows students how to Gamify their daily habits to increase productivity. For me, this section was a literal game-changer. Not only have I been able to change how I look at my day, but I have also learned how to define what a productive day looks like and create habits to support that definition, all while maintaining visual documentation of my progress that I can return to and reevaluate.

Looking back at my time in sales, though I managed to do well for myself, I think back to days when I felt unproductive. Trent teaches that by documenting their habits, one can see their productivity, compare it to their performance, and connect the dots to improve their numbers. This section was so lucrative that I began using what I learned daily. I even applied many of these methods to my parenting and Dream Seker Time; I have seen progression!
